The Countdown Begins

by Travis on April 5, 2006

The countdown begins…….

Very few releases these days get me all fired up anymore. The anticipation just isn’t like it used to be back in the day when we would wait for the new EPMD, Ice Cube, or Pete Nice (looooooong story w/ that one). Now you have so much material and so many ways to get the music that the “excitement” just isn’t there like it used to be. I got a little hopped up waiting for “The Minstrel Show” last year, only to be let slightly down, but it still didn’t match the times when I would call the record store on release day on Tuesday morning to see if they had gotten “Illmatic” in yet. This year the only thing that got me slightly eager was Boss Hog Barbarians release, which didn’t disappoint. The last album that got me all geeked up was Masta Ace’s “A Long Hot Summer”.

There hasn’t been much buzz around this group……yet……You might not even be able to tell exactly who they are. But you will. I’ll just say this….the man on the far left is a legend in my and many others books. He is my all-time favorite artist who dropped my all-time favorite album back in 93′. Two others have been around since the late 90′s, with one dropping a near-classic album (IMO) in 04′. The fourth has been around since the turn of the decade and one of the most prolific lycists that no one has heard of, or very few. I’m getting pumped for this project and it doesn’t even have a release date yet. I do have some inside connections to the project and value their opinion very highly when it comes to music and they say the shit is slammin…..I can’t wait. Now if that inside connection can just swing me some tracks, it would be even better. I know you read this and I know you are holdin out!!! hehehehe…..

More tracks sometime this week. I have a Hilltop hustlers post in the works, a “it’s so corny, it’s good” post, plan on highliting some tracks from the first quarter of the year, and a Miami Bass post as well.
