Sophomore Slump Saturday

Boogiemonsters-God Sound

Not that God Sound was THAT bad, it just wasn’t near the quality of “Riders Of The Storm”. I did love “Beginning of The End”, but not much else. Has anyone heard anything of these cats since???

D-Nice-To Tha Rescue

I remember being so PISSED after my first listen of “To Tha Rescue”. Hear I was a 14 year old punk wasting my $9.99 on this poor follow up to “Call Me D-Nice”. Now “Call Me D-Nice” is easily in my top 50 of all time..no doubt. The Kay Gee beats really didn’t do D-Nice much justice I feel D would’ve been better doing his own beats. Even the albums “so called” highlight “Time To Flow” pales in comparison to much of Nice’s rookie effort. Man, this album “still” gets to me..I was a big D-Nice fan…just my opinion.

The UMC’s-Unleashed

Did Kool Kim and Hass G have their bowl of “Hardcore” cereal before lending their talents to this disc or what? A complete 360 from the experimental, happy go lucky debut “Fruits of Nature”. I thought these two had great chemistry and a very original flow, but this album didn’t do the job. It’s a hard sell when you make such a drastic change from backpacker to gat packer. Still, I did feel “whoa now”. I try to find a positive in every negative.

The UMC’s 2nd album was so damn awful. I copped it years back for around 3 bucks and quickly found out why. I don’t know what they were thinking in making this. Talk about a drastic departure from their great debut, huh?

yeah..no doubt. Honestly, the beats weren’t too unbearable though.
