WYDU Classics: May '07

by Travis on May 10, 2007

Yes, boys and girls, it’s that time again. No tongue in cheek titles this time, although someone suggested “Music To Be Busted By Five-O With A Case Of Empty Beer Cans and Three Half Naked Girls”, which if I ever make an album, I’m going to use that as the title. You know the drill, I throw together a disk of stuff (for us non I-pod people) with only myself in mind of stuff I want to listen to and since I’m a hellva nice guy, I share it the rest of you.

I spent alot of time (read: I threw this together last night in about a half hour) putting this together. I knew pretty much what I wanted to hear this time around and threw it together. So without further delay…..

Thanks to everyone that helped in acquiring these tracks and their original sources.

WYDU Classics: May ’07

1. Zhigge – Rakin’ In The Dough (Uptown Bounce Mix)
I LOOOOOVE this track so much. Big thanks to 2pointO and Super Ugly for it. I had been looking for this version since first hearing it on a Red Alert tape I had.

2. Melquan – Krunchtime
I forgot about this cut that appeared on Terminator X’s “Super Bad” LP from ’93 or ’94. Shit is hard and would rattle any trunk. I don’ t much about this dude, but I think he was part of the Punk Barbarians (which have a good album worth finding)

3. EPMD – Brothers From Brentwood L.I.
Props to Jaz for this. This was the B-side from “Crossover” I believe, I had it on tape back in the day, just for this track.

4. Da King & I – Crack Da Weazel
My man Dan Love got me to drag this release back out and this was always my favorite track on it.

5. Boodah An Da Bandit – Brain On Drugz
One of those Bust The Facts gems I discovered. Don’t remember much about this when it was released, but I’ve been playing it a lot this spring.

6. Home Team – Pick It Up
Do these guys sound like Poison Clan to anyone else?

7. Joe Sinistr – Under The Sun
My favorite MC to only appear on two tracks in his career. This cat was great, and as far as I know, he only did a track on E Double’s solo debut and this track that also appeared on Terminator X’s “Super Bad”.

8. Jibri Wise One – The House The Dog Built
Another Bust The Facts gem that I remember barely from back in the day.

9. Dredknotz – Causin’ A Menace (Lord Digga Mix)
It’s the clean version, but still pretty dope. They really needed to drop an album.

10. Whooliganz – Whooliganz (Original Mix feat B-Real)
I can’t remember who sent this to me, but a big thanks.

11. Freestyle Proffesors – Down With The Freestyle Proffessors
A nasty, nasty Showbiz beat

12. Jewel T – Ride The Crossfade
A Cool J clone, but I still like it

13. Lord Finesse feat Percee P – Kickin’ Flava With My Man
Percee and Finesse rip shit

14. MC Eiht feat Spice 1 & Redman – Nuthin’ But The Gangsta
I remember buying this CD back in the day just for the Redman track, but it’s a pretty album.

15. Erick Sermon – Rock Da House
Thanks Jaz, not sure of the orgin of this track

16. Camp Lo – Coolie High Paradise Remix
Love this track

17. Grand Puba – 360 (SD50 Remix)
this was a great track, thanks Jaz

18. Nice & Smooth – No Bones In Ice Cream
Been looking for this b-side for awhile now

19. Queens Brooklyn Connection – Back To School
Some classic 80′s shit

20. MC Serch – Back To The Grill Again (Remix)
Nice remix with some different MC’s
