Most Played & Most DL'ed For The Week (Wink Wink)

by Eric on June 2, 2007

Most Played
  1. “I’mwityou”-Uncut Raw….I keep sayin’ again & again how dope the album “First Toke” is. The more I listen to it the more enjoyable it becomes. If I had to compare it to another album it would have to be “Madvillianary”.
  2. “Loyalty”-Blue Scholars….Boy, this duo is definitely makin’ some waves now!!
  3. “US Placers”-CRS (Kanye, Lupe & Pharell)…taken from Kanye’s new mixtape hosted by Plain Pat “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”, talked about this one a lil’ in my THOUGHTS for the week. Honestly, I bumped it a whole lot at the beginning of the week but not so much in the last few days.
  4. “Southside”-Common f. Kanye…Man, did Ye’ lace Common with some HEAT, the hook kinda’ becomes a little annoying after a few listens though.
  5. “Make Me Better”-Fabolous f. Ne-Yo…Hold Up, I can’t stand lil’ Jay (Fab) as much as the next dude, but with Timbaland on the boards & Ne-Yo (one of the only R&B artists that I listen to)=Another Huge Hit. Fab’s “Jay jockin” is obvious on “Make Me Better” though.
  6. “Grew Up”-Prince Ali f. Loueville Sluggah of O.G.C…taken from Prince Ali’s “I Miss 1994″, you can pick that album up at HHB or Bossplayer…besides, I think Prince Ali had it upped for free download. Some decent cuts on the album, but this one does succed in “takin’ it back to 94′”….Loueville kills it!
  7. “It’s A Man’s World”-Nature….Of course you already know what sample is used for the hook (James Brown), Nature scored a pretty dope debut with “For All Seasons”. “It’s A Man’s World” is definitely the standout. BTW, what the hell was up with Nature’s “Wild Gremlinz”??
  8. “Mrs. Hazit” -Theory Hazit…taken from Theory’s promo “Extra Credit” (check it out at HHB), Theory is a pretty decent MC but this cut just has that ill summertime vibe to it. Hell, there’s even a breezy R & B hook….hmmm, that must be why I’m feelin’ it!
  9. “Bar Trap”-Pharoahe Monch…taken from “Desire”, possible album of the year anyone?? I’m really lovin’ P. Monch’s flow on this one plus the beat is bouncy as hell.
  10. “Pain”-2Pac…I’m not the biggest 2pac fan, but I would have to say that this is probably my favorite joint Pac ever spit on…props to Krisch for the hookup!

Most DL’ed

  1. “Masterpiece 01″-Mixed By Pete Rock
  2. “Nervous Records (Ghetto Classics)-VA
  3. “Sample Appreciation V0l.II (Blind Alley) Pt. I-W.T.R.
  4. “Sample Appreciation Vol.II (Blind Alley) Pt.II-W.R.R.
  5. “Can I Borrow A Dollar?”-Common Sense
  6. “The Aftermath”-Da Youngstas
  7. “Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde”-The Pharcyde
  8. “Buhloone Mind State”-De La Soul
  9. “The Untold Truth”-Illegal
  10. “AKA The Rugged Child”-Shyheim

That Uncut Raw was jaw-dropping in how simple but amazing it sounded. I’ve hooked 4 people on it so far. It is so much more fun to be taken back by something with no hype. In fact, at first glace, from the name and cover art I’d just breezed by.
That’s what this blog game is truly about. Exposing good music that wouldn’t have gotten heard.

while most blogs just post it for download. You let us know why we should listen to it.

This is an amazing blog!

keep it up.

Intro’s 1st LP and Yvette Michelle’s album were two of my favorite R&B joints from the early to mid 90′s…Too bad Yvette Michelle was “aesthetically challenged” and therefore didn’t get the push she properly deserved (although many FINE ASS R&B chicks didn’t catch on either like Billie Lawrence, Mona Lisa, Veronica and Lysette. One.
