3 The Hardway "Set In Stone" Release Party @ The Marquis Theater

Ft. Likwit Junkies (Defari & DJ Babu), ManeLine w/special guest host-Rakaa Iriscience (of Dilated Peoples)

In early 2007 House of Waxx Recordings quietly released their first product-the A.V.I.U.S. solo LP Patience. The label would hand to hand sell them while also garnering heavy sales on line. During this time, DJ Cysko Rokwel (who made a guest appearance on the album) made more regular appearances in the studio with MC A.V.I.U.S. and producer Es Nine-this is when the three officially formed 3 THE HARDWAY. The year that followed would see the trio garnering more and more attention by being booked at Colorados major venues, going on a short SouthWest Tour and culminating in their first nomination for the Westword Music Showcase. Something was defintely happening. The product of all of this-the long awaited 3 The Hardway album-Set In Stone.

The album features notable Colorado artist Mane Rok and InkLine (both of ManeLine) but takes things to the next level with appearances from internationally recognized stars Rakaa Iriscience (Dilated Peoples,) Defari(Likwit Crew), Doujah Raze (Rawkus/Trilogy Records) and Braille (of Lightheaded.) The album is packed full of speaker-banging beats (courtesy of Es Nine) that are reminscent of the true school era of Hip Hop, with national champion caliber cuts and scratches coming fully from Cysko Rokwel; but note that the lyrics delivered by A.V.I.U.S. and company, stand up pound for pound with their album counterparts.

This Feb 28th @ the Marquis Theater 3 The Hardway is set to take the bar that Colorado Hip Hop has set and move it notches higher as they deliver the album to the public with the help of ManeLine, The Likwit Junkies (Defari and DJ Babu) with special guest host Rakaa Iriscience.

The foundation had been laid, but now, 3 The Hardway makes sure it’s Set In Stone!

Raekwon f/ Ghostface Killah & Method Man – Wu Ooh (CDQ)
Raekwon f/ Ghsotface & Crooked I – Yes Sir

On February 19th, Stenge-O-Matic of Anotha Level will be releasing a project called "The Live & Direct Show" which features none-other-than Crooked I. However, this project is more than a regular underground feature as Crooked I appears along side the Wu-Tang Clan‘s Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. Many Hip Hop fans would consider this to be a "dream team" collaboration. Fans are able to preview the track on the project’s MySpace page and can make their purchase through Amazon when it becomes available. Those who are not familiar with Stenge-O-Matic’s group Anotha Level may be interested to know that their first album "On Anotha Level" was executively produced by Ice Cube and sold over 250,000 records in 1994. Stenge’s upcoming "Live & Direct Show" also features T.I., Glasses Malone, Akon and many more. Make sure to cop this project and support this heat!

Everyone got a hold of the CLEAN/RADIO version of this joint. However, here is the DIRTY/CDQ version of this NEW Raekwon f/ Ghostface joint, titled "Criminology 2". THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL SINGLE from OB4CL2 as the single has not been determined as of yet. However, this joint IS on the album and if enough positive feedback is given, it will be turned into the single and a video would be shot for it. In addition, the NEW release date is April 7th. (Yes it’s been changed a trillion times, but I am 99% sure this is the FINAL date).

Solo Emcee’s Release Features Production from Nottz, Black Milk, J Dilla, Flying Lotus, and more spacer

Finale, part of the new vanguard of Detroit emcees, will release his debut album A Pipe Dream and a Promise on April 7th, 2009 via Interdependent Media. A former automotive engineer, Finale has experienced firsthand what embodies the spirit of a city that is steeped in such a rich musical and motor history. Using his experiences as his muse, Finale delves into deeply personal issues on A Pipe Dream and a Promise where his "pipe dream" of a rap career takes fruition and the "promises" he has made to himself and others finally become realities. To promote the album, Interdependent Media will soon reveal an online video game reminiscent of Super Mario Brothers starring Finale that will allow fans to win a free Finale remix track by completing the game. Interdependent Media will also be giving away limited edition coloring books featuring Finale and other iM artists.

A Pipe Dream and A Promise pulses with the evolving Detroit hip-hop sound; a multi-layered blend of hard-hitting beats, abstract electronic instrumentals, and illustrative lyrics that tell the personal story of a man’s journey in a city on the cusp of a simultaneous economic breakdown and musical resurgence. Featuring production from J Dilla, Black Milk, Flying Lotus, Notzz, and Oddisee, the album showcases the work of a variety of exceptionally talented producers, with each offering a different musical foundation for Finale to showcase his lyrical onslaught.

Speaking about the title of the album, Finale says, "That’s my definition of hip-hop. There are two sides to hip-hop or any dream that you follow. It starts as a dream that everyone says is a pipe dream. They deter you from your dreams. But as artists we promise ourselves we are going to follow our dreams."

Before making his entrance into hip-hop, Finale worked as an automotive engineer promising to one day follow his dream of becoming a rapper. Making the rounds at local Detroit open mics and emcee battles, Finale began to mingle with local talents like Guilty Simpson and One.Be.Lo. After emailing some joints back and forth with J Dilla, Finale finally met him backstage at the DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival), where Dilla introduced him to Madlib, saying that he was one of the best in the game. “It was an honor and definitely a defining moment," says Finale. After realizing his passion and talent for hip-hop, Finale decided to finally quit his day job, follow his true passion, and make music a full-time career.

Mae Day – Cherish The Day

DJ Mick Boogie, legendary femcee MC Lyte, and MC Serch (known for his membership of pioneering rap group 3rd Bass) all have different ways of describing Mae Day, but their sentiments of praise are all the same.

"I want to let the world know about Mae Day," MC Lyte said, before freestyling with her on the air and later recording a song with her. "She’s coming, and I’m proud to know it and proud to say it."

"Mae is dope, refreshing, unique, original, and has an integrity about her that most emcees lack nowadays," Mick Boogie echoed. "I’m happy to be a part of her project."

That project is Cherish The Day, due for a release as a free download through and Mick Boogie’s

today, Tuesday, Feb. 3. On it, Mae Day and De Notes—the production team headed by Dewitt Moore, formerly of The SickNotes (Obie Trice‘s "Cry Now," D12′s "How Come’)—put their spin on records from soul songstress Sade to create classics of their own. Mae Day uses substantial lyrics and a tight delivery to simultaneously narrate a story and convey the emotions that come with it, and she’s sexy without the brashness that many of her peers rely on—much like the singer who inspired the project itself. The first leak, "Hold On," sees her and De Notes flipping Sade’s "Nothing Can Come Between Us" into an upbeat, confident assertion of her impending success. A week after its release—Tuesday, Feb. 9— will present an exclusive playlist that features Mae Day giving listeners an inside look behind each song.

MC Serch insisted that when he listened to Cherish The Day, that he had goosebumps—the same goosebumps he felt when executive producing seminal albums like Nas’ Illmatic and O.C.’s Word…Life. "I hope that the rest of the audience is not so lost in the sea of mediocre music that this wave of talent gets lost," Serch said. "This is a voice women can ride for, and dudes can vibe to. … She’s the female Jay-Z."

Cherish The Day Tracklisting // Sade originals

2. DJ (Same Song) // King of Sorrow
3. Hold On // Nothing Can Come Between Us

Illogic Gets Lyrical with Diabolical Fun
New Album March 24 on Weightless Recordings

Columbus, OH — What do you get when you mix classicly energetic lyricism with the street-savvy edge of MC’s in 2009? Ohio mic wrecker Illogic may very well know the answer to that question… or rather, he might be the answer.

On March 24, Illogic will unleash his third full-length album entitled Diabolical Fun on Weightless Recordings. His new single "Let’s Go" has already captivated fans and critics alike with aggressively enthusiastic bars of pure Hip Hop, and Ill
ogic is set to re-establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in the independent underground and beyond.

As a native of Columbus, Ohio, Illogic spent years developing his his gift for witty lyrics and naturally dynamic performance abilities. The young MC released his debut album Unforeseen Shadows in 1999 to critical acclaim, and shared the stage with emerging Midwest talent like Common, Atmosphere, Eyedea, One Be Lo and Royce Da 5’9".

By 2003, he had released the Got Lyrics? EP and his sophomore album, Celestial Clockwork. Everything was amazing business-wise for Illogic, but behind the scenes, something wasn’t sitting right with the budding rap star. Without much explanation, Illogic disappeared from the public eye at what seemed to be the peak of his career.
“Once Celestial Clockwork dropped, the ball was rolling,” Illogic explains. “The album was well received along with my stage show. I was touring heavily with many prominent underground acts, yet on top of all of this I was married with two children and a third on the way. The toll that this took on my family life was immeasurable by any stretch of the imagination, because music and being on tour was my job. Missing the birth of my third son was my wake-up call. I then knew it was time to slow down and get my priorities in order. I had to find myself for the first time.”

Rejuvenated after nearly a four-year hiatus, Illogic flexed his mic skills in 2008 with the EP One Bar Left. He began performing spot dates again, and has recorded several projects, including two full-length albums, all waiting to be heard after the release of Diabolical Fun.

Produced in its entirety by Ill Poetic, known best for his creative Budden/Portishead & NIN/Outkast mash-ups, Diabolical Fun is an intense, enjoyable rhymefest for Illogic. The hype delivery on the single "Let’s Go" is just a taste of the rap vet’s intention to share his renewed excitement with the world.

“My previous works were denser, darker and in some ways depressing, because that is where I was in my life at that time and that is the music I needed to make for that time,” Illogic expresses. “I’m at a different place in my life now, and my music has to reflect that, so Diabolical Fun is brighter, a little more fun, and definitely more performance-geared. For once I know I’m ready for all that is ahead of me, and I am thankful for all that is behind me.”
