My man Willie Evans Jr (of The AB’s) and Paten Locke (aka Therapy of The AB’s and The Smile Rays) drop their two cents on the incredibly over done Charles Hamilton and Black Spade thing. I’ve kept my two cents out of it, simply because you can read about it on any blog that you want. But if you know me, and you’ve read this blog, I think it’s pretty safe assumption where I stand on the issue. Let’s just say, I’ve never really gave Charles Hamilton music much of a chance, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
This is Willie and P just getting crazy with it and chopping it all up…..literally. You gotta check it, the shit is pretty sweet
Also, a clip from a live Willie Evans show, dude is dope, and we’ll be having more with him in the upcoming future
I linked back up with my man Lefty (1 half of the bay area hip-hop group, the Bash Bros) to bring you the latest installment of his Gangland street album series. Volume 3, The Young Misguided, is a fresh, original take on hip-hop. With so much repetitive music nowadays, it’s good to hear someone taking risks and doing some different shit. Bay Area stand up!!

The music I’ve heard from this cat has always been really good, so I’m excited to a hear full length project from him. I haven’t given this a listen yet, but I have some high expectations. If you all read Kevin Knottingham’s blog (and I know you do) you’ll recognize the name - Trav

ONCE AGAIN… 2 new (to us), previously unreleased tracks from Camden, NJ’s MAGr. First is the live show starter “Feelin Us,” produced by none other than Tha S Ence of Hustle Simmons, plus a space-funked cut full of “Spike Lee” references courtesy of our Irish homey Mike Slott, via NY…
MAGr (DistantStarr & Al Mighty) > Feelin Us (prod Tha S Ence)

MAGr > Spike Lee (prod Mike Slott)
“With a catalog already over 100 tracks and no formal release to date, MAGr is in the process of finalizing and shopping two separate, long-awaited albums, and the premier No News is Good News project is only snapshot of the things to come from this refreshing combo.”

We’ve had John Public up on here before, way back in ’07 when we posted his Borrowed LP up. I want to say I’ve heard the Thrift Shop Experience, but I’m not certain. Regradless, looking forward to this. -Trav
I’m an emcee from Jersey City, NJ and wanted to put you on to the title track to my album being re-released this summer (The Thrift Shop Experience). I wanted to see if you could let this joint breathe on your site, I’d appreciate any support you’d be willing to give. I’ve attached it and also included the DL link + pic. The re-releasing this summer will have some new production, trimmed skits and some new songs. Got a joint so far with The Apple Juice Kid and Emilio Rojas, and everything is moving along pretty well.
