Mixtapes, Albums, EPs

Having secured serious coverage for their APPETIZER project, with exclusivity granted to three of the Hip-Hop worlds most influential sites last week, L.E.S co-horts Punchlyne and Fokis are now proud to unleash the project in its entirety.

The response to what was originally a six track EP, with a bonus track for each of the respective sites who were given advance access to the free dowload, encouraged the duo to head back into the studio to bless their fan base with another track. “We added a new song because we wanted to make it a full LP,” Fokis explains. “Having released three different versions of the EP some people didn’t get a chance to hear all the bonus songs so we said ‘let’s group all the songs, add one new one for everyone and make it an full LP.’”

So now a solid ten track album, Punchlyne and Fokis who are using THE APPETIZER as a warm up for their impending album THE RESET BUTTON are positive the demand is there for future collaborations. “Releasing this project was a good way for people to warm up to us as a group, with the feedback we have gotten so far I am confident that the people will love our upcoming album.” – FOKIS

The chemistry between the two wordsmiths is obviously apparent upon listening to THE APPETIZER and it is because of this that two continue their allegiance in making music appreciated by Hip-Hop fans everywhere. “Doing this project was an easy experience for me. It’s great working with someone that shares the same vision and strives for perfection. This is Hip-Hop in its classic form” – PUNCHLYNE

“R.I.P. to FEMALE EMCEES” Ft. MC Lyte & Jean Grae:

Please click & enjoy this newest video on our “Road To Release.”

In Episode #11, Eternia provides a scathing critique of the “R.I.P. to All Female Emcees” media hype that has recently surfaced. She builds with the legendary MC Lyte & Jean Grae, as all 3 ladies shut down the ‘where are all the female emcees?’ rhetoric that has run rampant. The episode also introduces two other emcees killing the game: True Daley & Nemiss, who murk the stage… and happen to be female. If Ya (claimed) Ya Don’t Know… Now Ya Know.

In the upcoming months, eternia will release steady video & audio leaks leading up to the highly anticipated release of eternia & MoSS‘s debut album, “AT LAST“. Follow them as they shop for a record deal, promote the album, and countdown to the release date. And you just never know what special guests may pop up… stay tuned!

SCOPOLAMINE – DOWNLOAD

Truth & Soul is proud to present the first single from Michael Leonhart & The Avramina 7. Long time trumpet player for many of the T&S releases, Michael Leonhart has masterfully created something that sounds like the musical love child of R.D Burman, Fela Kuti, & Beck. A mix of reverb drenched vocals, afro beat horns, and fluttering tablas all work in perfect harmony on The Avramina 7′s first single on Truth & Soul.

A Little bit about Michael Leonhart & The Asvamina 7: ” As a solo artist Michael has released six albums — “Aardvark Poses” (1995), “Glub Glub vol. 11″ (1997), and “Slow” (2002) all on the Sunnyside label; “The Suzy Lattimore EP” (2005) & “The Ballad of Minton Quigley “(2006) self released and 2008’s “Hotel Music” on limited edition vinyl with hand painted covers released through St. Ives (an imprint of Secretly Canadian). He has composed and performed music for movies, television, dance, fashion shows and theater, and has appeared on over 100 albums. At age 17, Michael was honored as the youngest Grammy recipient in history, cited as the most outstanding musician in a U.S. high school. That same year ABC World News named him “Person of the Week”.

Michael has performed with Steely Dan since 1996, recording two albums with them, including 2000′s Grammy winning Album of the Year “Two Against Nature” on which he was a featured soloist, arranger and conductor. He has performed and/or recorded with such diverse artists as A Tribe Called Quest, Arif Mardin, Arto Linsday, Bill Frisell, Bobby McFerrin, Bonnie Raitt, Brian Eno, Busta Rhymes, Caetano Veloso, D.J. Spooky, David Byrne, Henry Mancini, James Brown, John Barry, Joshua Redman, Lenny Kravitz, Mark Ronson, Michael McDonald, Mos Def, Natalie Merchant, Q-Tip, Raekwon (Wutang Clan), Slash (Guns and Roses/ Velvet Revolver), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Todd Rundgren, and Wynton Marsalis. Most recently, Michael recorded with Yoko Ono as a featured member of the Plastic Ono Band for her upcoming album, “Between My Head and the Sky”. Michael also appears on upcoming albums by Sharon Jones and the Dapkings, Foreigner, Sean Lennon, and Yuka Honda (Cibo Matto).

After 20 plus recordings as the house trumpet player for Truth and Soul records, the Brooklyn based funk and soul label will release Leonhart’s heavy-funk concept album “Seahorse and the Storyteller” late this year.”

Revalation ft. Kore & Strick 9Take You Out

Here is a brand new joint from EMS Productions featuring 3 of it’s talented artists. This is going to be featured on Revalation’s “The Revalation Will Be Televised” which is coming soon. I’ve hit some speed bumps in the release process but I’m working hard to give the fans quality product. I dropped a mixtape in June (The “Push Back” Mixtape) and a duo album with Catalyst in July (Killa Tape ’09) so the streets still got a lot of Rev to download and bump until this drops but here is a New Joint fresh off the upcoming tape!!! This is a smooth jawn over the “Throw It In A Bag” instrumental but we flipped it and made the track our own. Kore on the Hook & 1st verse, me on the bridge & 2nd verse & Strick9 on the third verse. Enjoy!
