@dfacedxa - I'll give it another listen. I don't remember liking it that much when I got the LP, and I gave it a listen recently on some awesome laptop speakers, which don't exactly do music justice. But, I know it's sacriledge(sp?), I was never a huge Mobb Deep guy. I have Hell on Earth, and liked that, but never really got into them. Not sure why.

Thanks for the props. I have some more coming up, ones that I think are real good. I don't have that Don't Be a Menace though. I searched for it on amazon and found it funny that the 'customers who bought this' feature basically listed the soundtracks I posted, or am going to post. It might have been the only 1 that I missed in the 90's.

i cant believe that you said this "Back at You – Mobb Deep – This song is serviceable. Nothing special, but not that bad." about that mobb deep song. that is one of my favorite mobb songs ever. i got the single of it off the soundtrack with queen latifah on the other side. that joint is classic to me.

but my main reason for commenting was to give props for the whole soundtrack series. i miss the dope soundtracks! you should throw the dont be a menace soundtrack up if you do another part.

SOC4L - That rings a bell. The name sounded familiar, but I obviously didn't try to look them up. Thanks for the info.

SS - I guess I'll have to check for that Tell Me song. It might sound familiar if I listen to it. I'm not a big R&B guy, so I wasn't really checking for that stuff. Sometimes you hear a song a lot and you never bother to find out the artist's name for whatever reason.

I have a few more soundtracks to post, and some real good ones coming up, so keep an eye out for those.

Bring The Pain being on the GWH soundtrack makes some sense, as the over-the-hill champ played by one of the Wayans brothers gets led into the ring by Meth, performing that song. Probably the highlight of what is otherwise a pretty mediocre film.

ahmad's hit was "back in the day" with the teddy pendergrass sample. it was a jam.

Ahmad killed it on Come Widdit, that was what made a lot of people realize he was an ill emcee. always wondered why golden state warriors essentially because this song's lineup with xzibit subbing for ahmad. also wonder what ahmad is up to. 4th avenue jones was on interscope for a minute and he's still ferocious. guess he needs better management. i second the comment about anotha level ebing a pharcyde clone. there were LOTS of those in the 90s, some better than others.

i'm also surprised you never heard of groove theory. not rememebering their hit is one thing, but never hearing about them at all and you were listening to urban music in the 90s? crazy. i guess they weren't super-huge, but tell me was all over the radio and amel went on to make great solo tunes.

Sunset Park is a decent soundtrack. That Big Mike joint is hard as nails and both the Dogg Pound and Pac tracks are great

But the real gem is Mobb Deeps "Back At You" (as good as anything found on Hell On Earth)

anotha level is a west coast group that i believed was ice cube's attempt to make a pharcyde-type group and they released at least one album (on anotha level i think it was called) that is pretty good nothing great but not a bad listen

I feel like you proved my point. :) Unfortunately, I can't know every single song and artist from the 90's. Hell, I don't even know every hip-hop artist from the 90's, and I like that genre.

I'll have to look it up and take a listen.

What I don't understand is why the author said "He is never heard of Grove Theory". Members are Amel Larrieux and former Mantronix member Byrce Wilson who dropped one of the biggest RnB singles in the mid 90's "Tell Me". Look it up and you will remember.
