Bandcamp’s Best Of The Week 11/12

by OSnapple on November 12, 2010

Bandcamp's Best of the week

DNADoubleHelixThis weeks number one is D.N.A. (Drac n Antalyst). Melodic flows over dark smooth beats make this duo stand out.  Based out of Riverside, CA this New-soul hip-hop group stands up to my test of witty lyrics.  For me this album took about 3 or 4 listens to really wrap my head around, and in the end they ended up in the number one slot.  Download their free album The Evolution of the Double Helix below.

My Pick:

Rhythm and Poetry5 Tracks, Sick Flows, Real Talk, this is what got the Rhythm and Poetry EP. by The SeKondElement into the number 2 slot this week.  The SeKondElement does a fantastic job fitting her flows to the beats.  My only gripe is the $3 price tag. In my opinion this 5 track EP should be a name your own price album but its still a solid 5 tracks.

My Pick:

Cop it HERE

This weeks 3rd slot has victory written all over it.  From the beats to the flows this whole album makes you want to go out and accomplish something meaningful.  North Carolina emcee Mallz accompanied by E Dot Spencer come together for a match made in musical heaven. Best part of it all is that the album is Free check out my pick and Cop it below.

Yo OSnapple! On the RAP: Rhythm And Poetry EP by TheSeKondElement if it was name your price what price would you pay? Thanks for the post. I encourage you to check out her other releases specifically The Kommencement and Metrical Komposition when you have time.

In all honesty, the $3 dollar mark is ok for 5 tracks. I guess its just my marketing brain that thinks 5 Tracks should be a free promo sort of thing.

Something to consider also is bandcamps reputation and history of the Name Your Own Price. According to their home page “On name-your-price albums, fans pay an average of 50% more than whatever you set as your minimum.”

So even a great idea to set your own price with a minimum of lets say $2.00 feel free to ignore me as well hahahah

Good looks on the other albums too, im going to scope them this week

I didn’t think $3 was horrible either. I actually took your advice and made it name your price. The minimum is $2.50 I figured I would meet you halfway between the $3 and $2, lol.

Thanks for checking out the other projects. Tell a friend to tell a friend and tell a blogger to tell a blogger.
