My memories of Edo G go way back to the mid 80′s when Magnus Johnstone’s Hip Hop show Lecco’s Lemma was popping off on WMBR in Cambridge, MA. The Boston area Hip Hop community came up around this program. Back then a young Edo G. was called Edo Rock and he was down with FTI (Fresh To Impress) Crew, years later he resurfaced with a new crew called Da Bulldogs and legendary A&R Brian Chin signed them to PWL/PolyGram Records. In the summer of 1991, Ed O.G dropped “Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto” with the classic singles “I Got To Have It”, “Be A Father To Your Child” & “Bug A Boo” produced by Joe Mansfield of the legendary Vinyl Reanimators (Joe Mansfield, Sean C(ane) (yes, THE Sean C) & DJ Shame).

Now almost 20 years later, Edo G is still rhyming and relevant worldwide. His new album “A Face In The Crowd” drops May 17th on local indie juggernaut Traffic Entertainment. It features production from longtime collaborator DJ Premier and Statik Selektah plus features from Slaine, Def Jeff, M1, Bishop Lamont, Chali 2na & local crews Special Teamz & Made Men. You can pre-order it here on iTunes and the CD from UGHH and digitally from Amazon.

Included below is a tagged album sampler to convince you a purchase an album by a legend that I’ve been a fan of for 25 of my 35 years on Earth.
