The Random Axe LP is finally here and the album is produced entirely by the metahuman producer known as Black Milk. The trio of Sean Price, Guilty Simpson & Black Milk all trade ferocious apocryphal Super Saiyan 5 Death Note bars over 13 of the 15 tracks as “Zoo Drugs” is the intro and “Outro Smoutro” is well…the outro (Duh).
Guest verses and hooks come from Fat Ray (“Black Ops”), Roc Marciano (“Chewbacca”), Danny Brown (“Japhy Joe”), Fattfather of Fat Killahz (“Shirley C”), Rock of Heltah Skeltah and Detroit OG Trick Trick (“Another One”) while Melanie Rutherford makes us long for that Black Milk produced LP he was talking about last year by lending her vocal talents to “Japhy Joe”.
When I first listened to this album I immediately thought of insanely graphic anime fight scenes, epic brawls from classic martial arts films and explicitly violent scenes from gangster movies. It’s essentially Ragnarok in WAV form. Audio apocalypse in the guise of mp3′s. Revelations verses spit over Black Milk beats. If you actually expect to hear raw beats and lyrics from artists that claim they’ll deliver them then look no further.
This album also has a Boston connection as the homie Trees from Underground Hip Hop.com played Sean P a grip of Guilty Simpson tracks after hometown cat & the head of Clockwork Music Dan Green suggested P do a song with him. Also keep in mind that they were touring with Bostonian labelmates Special Teamz at the time. It happened. Trees wasn’t lying on the UGHH messageboard (P.S. I don’t sleep. I see all. Kinda like Uatu).
