All I can say is that we are at a great loss at this moment. We lost someone who was always on the positive side of the pendulum. You can always go back to any track that Heav recorded, and generate a smile. His music always maintained a healthy balance of heart & soul, party, and realism. Realism, more from the perspective of authenticity. Never once did you ever feel that he wasn’t enjoying what he was doing, when you listened to his music. At the very end of the Blue Funk album, you hear him say: “I don’t care what they think. I’mma give you what I can give you. When I am over, when it is done and said, when I’ve made my last album, cause you don’t appreciate the music no more. I will step away. I’m not gonna step away without someone saying that nigga Heavy D was rough in his day.”

I think it is safe to say that we can all say that Heavy D was rough in his day.

RIP Heavy D, thanks for the joy that you have given me through your music through my high school, college, marriage, and what I will undoubtedly share with my kids.
