Today I present some of my favorites from the nine-square in the form of “1994 SELECTIONS”. Boasting 83(!) cuts mixed and blended by yours truly, ’94 only serves as a subtle warm-up (from arguably one of Hip Hop’s finest years) for the 1995 & 1996 “SELECTIONS” that will be up later this week as well. Big shout to St.Mic for the final bouncing and mastering. As always, enjoy and peep the tracklist and download pt. II after the skip!
Comprised of 68 tracks from one of my favorite years in Hip Hop, 1993, this mixtape takes you on a journey that also features some of the cuts that aren’t as familiar in many of mixes from ’93. I tried to leave the “Slams”, “Protect Ya’ Necks”, etc. on the cutting room floor, opting for a more “personal” touch on this mix. With 68 cuts in under one hour and twenty minutes, “SELECTIONS” will have you reminiscing on what “was” and will probably never be.
“Here it is..Baaam! And you say…”. Yes ‘sa, I told ya’ll “we don’t stop..ehh, ehh..ehh, ehh”. 1992 is right up there as one of the most profound years in Hip Hop. LA riots, Cross Colours, The Hit Squad? C’mon B, 1994 gets all the props, yet ’92 was that KNOCK! Hit the jump for 102 (!) blends from 1992 and sit back and reminisce!
PLEASE NOTE: Audiomack has a max upload size of 200mb (this was 297mb). You’ll need to download from both audiomack links for the full tracklisting. Don’t fret everything is mixed together, ENJOY!!! Also, hit the jump for Pt. II.
“The Procussions” – The Procussions (Stro The 89th Key & Mr. J Medeiros
Purchase “The Procussions” HERE
It’s been quite a while since The Procussions (Stro The 89th Key & Mr. J Medeiros) dropped their last LP, “5 Sparrows For Two Cents”, over 7 years (!) ago to be exact. Released via the Rawkus imprint, “5 Sparrows..” found Rez (Resonant) along for the ride, whereas The Procussions’ recently released LP finds Stro and Mr. J as a duo holding down the fort. The Procussions also released a self-titled EP near the end of March this year, which cleverly enough, is the first 5 songs featured on the LP. So if you purchased the EP back in March, you can now cop the remainder of the LP for a slight over 5 bones via Itunes. Confused yet? Well, don’t be as I’m here to tell you that Stro & Mr. J’s self-titled LP is one of the most solid, well-executed LPs that you’ll have the pleasure of enjoying in 2013.
On the heels of yesterday’s mix from 1989-’90, next on the plate, we have a mix I did back in the early stages of summer that boasts 92 of my favorite cuts form 1991. Non-stop goodness on this outing. Damn, remember when EVERYTHING hovered around 110 BPMs? Well, this jawn doesn’t show any sign of slowing down. ENJOY!! Also, stay tuned for 1992 Selections dropping tomorrow!
PLEASE NOTE: When you download the mix, it is blended, Audiomack was bein’ funky on the song sequence when uploading today.
Yes ‘sa, just in time for the Fall is a blend that I had sitting on my hard drive for the better part of the year. Finally, I compiled and blended 85 tracks from some of the best years in Hip Hop, 1989 & 1990. So, up next will be 1991 thru 1997 (which, by now, many of the links have died or were “repossessed” via Megaupload), leaking out over the next week or so. On a side note, big shout to St.Mic for the final mastering. Enjoy and Happy Weekend from the Bloggerhouse camp! You can preview and download the mix via the AudioMack link player below. BTW, AudioMack is a BEAUTIFUL THING for uploading the mixes, who likes typing out the tracklist for 85 tracks anyway?
“Peter Pan Syndrome” (Old Maid Ent., Released: 9/10/13)
Cop “Peter Pan Syndrome” HERE
When one of your favorite artists comes out of “retirement” to release his first solo album in nine years, you tend to get excited and usually the expectations tied to that release are sky high. More often than not, there is no way the expectations can match the actual product. Fast Forward to what we have here, which is the latest J-Zone release, “Peter Pan Syndrome”, and the perceived outcome for this release is as high as it can be for me. Does the album live up to hefty expectations?
Happy Friday ya’ll!! Here’s another mixtape I just blended up to accompany your weekend. In continuation of “Backpack Heat ’13 Vol. I”, “Vol. II” features more recent cuts as “Vol. I” sat in the stash for quite sometime before I uploaded it. “Vol. II” is fresh off the press and features 63 cuts of the finest Underground Hip Hop released in the last quarter or so. Enjoy and props to St. Mic for the final mastered version.
