Alright peoples, now that you’ve seen Dart’s take on the Complex list of 75 “Tunnel” bangers, here goes my 27.  Yes, I said 27, being that Dart switched his list up on me late last nite to include “Karma” and “Negro League Baseball”.  As you’ll notice, I also duplicated those two picks, hence the 27.  However, I truly feel sorry for our “third of the trio”, Trav, who is shouldered with the task of picking the remaining 25, being that Dart and I have picked many of the more notable classics.  Anyway, here goes, let us know what you think!

“I Declare War”-Pacewon

Found On: “I Declare War/”Step UP” 12″ (Ruffhouse, 1998)

Yet another Ski (Beatz) produced banger that came after the notoriety that can be associated with his contributions to Jay’s “Reasonable Doubt”, Camp Lo’s “Uptown Saturday Night”, yet before you youngsters discovered him via Curren$y’s “Pilot Talk”.  The actual sample used for the Outsidaz’ card-carrying member can now be heard on Sean Price’s video leak,  “Figure Four”.  “I Declare War” also finds Ski showcasing his diggin’ skills as the track is just a basic looped sample.  Still, undeniably fresh!

20,000 Leagues Under the Street – Rasco, Planet Asia, Zion I, et al

Posted by: BC  //  Category: Hip Hop

Okay, so I’ve been on some early 2000′s type stuff lately. Here’s another compilation album from 2000 to be exact. 20,000 Leagues is a nice compilation presented by Rasco on his Pockets Linted label (I’m pretty sure it was/is his label). There seemed to be a lot of compilations like this around the turn of the century, and that didn’t bother me. Most of the ones that I got were pretty damn good and you can slot this one in there as well.

The best tracks on here are from Zion I, Rasco, Saafir, Grouch, Phil Da Agony and Cali Agent (Rasco and Planet Asia). Another real nice track is from a group called Epitome, which unfortunately fell off the map as far as I can tell, and there’s a nice track from the previously posted about Encore. The production is primarily handled by the artists featured on the LP, or affiliates of those artists.

Digi Crates Promo Sampler

Posted by: Eric C.  //  Category: Lets Talk About.....(Review Series)

Again…not one to post some of the B.S. we receive in the inbox, but this sampler is DOPE!!  Featuring a host of some of the underground’s most promising cats (tha Connection, Rasco & Roc Marciano), along with some of the dopest “under the radar” producers, many of whom handled production on tha Connection’s last two albums (Baker, DJ Krypto, etc.) this sampler offers a brief glimpse of the Digi Crates roster.  Also, if you’re somewhat like myself and are hesitant to download “free” sh*t anymore, peep the youtube video below and you be the judge.
